Extra-vascular findings in patients undergoing magnetic resonance angiography of the abdomen, pelvis and lower extremities: A retrospective study of 352 patients.
Conclusions Extravascular findings are frequently encountered in magnetic resonance angiography performed for vascular indications. Clinically relevant findings are seen in a substantial part of patients and should prompt further diagnostic work-up. PMID: 28587578 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Vascular remodelling in the pulmonary circulation after major lung resection
Lung resection is a standard treatment in patients with clinical stages I and II and selected patients with stage IIIA nonsmall cell lung cancer [1]. Major lung resection (MLR), such as (bi)lobectomy or pneumonectomy, occasionally lead to pulmonary hypertension (PH). Several studies report an increase in pulmonary artery pressures in about one-third of these patients up to 5 years postoperatively [2–4]. The development of PH after MLR may be explained simply by the fact that total cardiac output flows through a smaller vascular bed. Because there are no reports in the literature of histological studies performed...

Response to cytotoxic chemotherapy and overall survival in non-small cell lung cancer patients with positive or negative ERCC1 expression
ABSTRACT Acute pulmonary thromboembolism (APTE) is a highly prevalent condition (104-183 cases per 100,000 person-years) and is potentially fatal. Approximately 20% of patients with APTE are hypotensive, being considered at high risk of death. In such patients, immediate lung reperfusion is necessary in order to reduce right ventricular afterload and to restore hemodynamic stability. To reduce pulmonary vascular resistance in APTE and, consequently, to improve right ventricular function, lung reperfusion strategies have been developed over time and widely studied in recent years. In this review, we focus on advances in the...

EBUS-TBNA versus surgical mediastinoscopy for mediastinal lymph node staging in potentially operable non-small cell lung cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusions: EBUS-TBNA and mediastinoscopy produced similar results for mediastinal staging of NSCLC. EBUS-TBNA can be the procedure of first choice for LN staging in patients with NSCLC.RESUMO Objetivo: O c âncer de pulmão (CP) é uma das principais causas de morte no mundo.

Patient-based benefit-risk assessment of medicines: development, refinement, and validation of a content search strategy to retrieve relevant studies
J Med Libr Assoc. 2022 Apr 1;110(2):185-204. doi: 10.5195/jmla.2022.1306.ABSTRACTINTRODUCTION: Poor indexing and inconsistent use of terms and keywords may prevent efficient retrieval of studies on the patient-based benefit-risk assessment (BRA) of medicines. We aimed to develop and validate an objectively derived content search strategy containing generic search terms that can be adapted for any search for evidence on patient-based BRA of medicines for any therapeutic area.METHODS: We used a robust multistep process to develop and validate the content search strategy: (1) we developed a bank of search terms derived from s...
